The Fournel Canyon is a marvellous spot for canyoning between Argentiere-la-Bessee et Vallouise, in Hautes-Alpes, France. This is a great opportunity to discover a canyon of French Alps while having fun. Here you will find all the advantages of the mountain without the risks inherent to the altitude.
The descent consists of an uninterrupted succession of jumps, slides and canal passages. Everything can be done without a rope, no single technique. Moreover, this canyon has various loopholes that can be full of summer lightning after a summer storm and a wide inlet flow of light, an amazing spectacle of the light.
The most fun part is undoubtedly the famous midterm canal when you are dropped in the basin from a low height. Canyoning allowed on the spot is allowed from April 2 to October 31. Note the presence of an upstream water reservoir, which emit an audible warning if water is to be released.
This explains the many loopholes marked in the canyon. Training schools on the spot will assist you with learning sessions and provide you with necessary equipment. Various accommodation options, shops and leisure activities are identified around the area and close to L’Argentiere-la-Besse.
Organized bus transport from Chateau St. Jean – Cultural center of L’Argentiere-la-Besse – City Town Hall to the Gorges du Fournel.
