The Dolomites mountain chain and its surroundings is just the ideal location for anyone to practice all kind of snow and ice activities. Ice climbing fans can find here an exceptional arena with countless options for practicing their preferred sport. In Corvara, no more than 20 km/12.4 mi from Cortina d' Ampezzo, there is one of the largest artificial installations in Europe.
Endowed with many routes, along with a 25 m/82 ft high vertical ice tower, a 15 m/49 ft high ice wall and a 14 m/45 ft high ice cylinder, the installations can provide several challenging experiences. Waterfalls’ ice climbing is a widespread activity in that region.
During winter time, many waterfalls are frozen due to the very low temperatures, forming an ideal spot for climbing. Among the most famous spots are those in Santa Cristina zone in Valle di Riva -suitable only for experienced practitioners- Val Martello and Palla Bianca. The Lappager Park, situated in Lappago area, with its well designed facilities, promises unforgettable moments to the visitors.
