Wenatchee is the largest city of Chelan County, located in North Central Washington and lies on the west side of the Columbia River. The city is also known as the Apple Capital of the world, due to the valley's many apple cultivations.
Chikamin Creek Loop is located on the Cascade Mountain, after Wenatchee Lake. It is 16.5 mi/26.5 km long (loop trail) and has minimum elevation gain. The best time to bike this trail is from mid July to late October. This ride is not suitable for beginners because it is long, technically challenging and with loose, fine dirt terrain.
Chikamin Creek trail is one of the few rides in Washington, with more downhill biking than uphill climb. You need to be focused when biking, because there are sharp angle switchbacks, cinder blocks and single track narrow roads. Despite the technical difficulties, this is a downhill ride that you will definitely enjoy. Don’t forget to take with you plenty of water, energy snacks, a map and a compass.
