Nested high in the heart of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and surrounded by amazing glacier lakes and alpine forests, a historic mountain town called Leadville awaits for the nature enthusiasts for a pure adventure.
Rich in history and Victorian architecture, the town is designated as a National Historic Landmark District since 1961. Its economy was based on mining but when Climax mine has been closed down, locals took advantage of their beautiful natural surroundings and focused on adventurism. As the place is gifted with rich flora and fauna landscapes and high alpine mountains, it is now the center of many recreational and outdoor activities, attracting tourists from all over the world.
One of the most famous events and a wonderland for mountain bike enthusiasts is the Leadville Trail 100 race or else The Race Across The Sky. Taking place every summer and starting from Leadville’s town, the race follows a 100 mi/161 km long trail, all the way out and back again through the rough mountain, reaching an elevation of 12424 ft/3786 m high. The majority of the trails take you through the forest and onto mountain roads. The terrain is mainly dirt and rocky along with some few sections of pavement.

Suitable for advanced and in very good physical condition mountain bikers, this marathon is open for all participants over 18 year old.
