Longmont is located northeast of the county seat of Boulder, about 31 mi/49.9 km north-northwest of the Colorado state capitol in Denver. It is a home rule municipality in Boulder, Weld Counties in the U.S. state of Colorado.
It is an easy going community only 16 mi/25.8 km away from Boulder. Near Boulder lies Rabbit Mountain. Rabbit Mountain has great trails for mountain biking. It is owned and administrated by the Boulder County and is freely accessible to the public.
This mountain is kind of different comparing to other mountains around, because it is a hogback with an escarpment that faces east. The trail is 5.2 mi/8.4 km long and has an elevation of 6006 ft/1831 m. The 4 mi/6.5 km riding is on singletrack and the 1.2 mi/1.9 km riding on gravel roads.
The trail level is intermediate and best season for mountain biking is summer and fall. Skill level is regarding physical level, easy with a few moderate climbs and as for technical level, easiest to moderate. Trail type is loop.
