Ingalls Peaks are located in the Stuart Range of the North Cascades. The mountain has three peaks, with the North Peak being the highest. The top elevation of the South Ridge stands at 7662 ft/2335 m and is suitable for climbing, from June to October.
The skill level required for this climb is grade II, class 5,2 to 5,6 – suitable for intermediate and advanced rock climbers. In order to reach Ingalls South Ridge, take the Esmeralda/Longs Pass Trail until the end of it. The climbing route is short and rough with not very long pitches, but is perfect for alpine rock climbing. Once you reach the top, the view of the surrounding mountains and lakes is breathtaking.
To descent, just rappel the North Peak route down. Ingalls South Ridge climb is a rewarding and popular destination for rock climbers. Take a small rack with chocks and cams, a 196 ft/60 m rope, helmet and if you visit the mountain in early season, an ice axe and crampons might be handy for you.
