Mountain Quarry is considered to be a great climbing location close to Perth. Mountain Quarry provides with some of the highest climbing opportunities close to the metropolitan area with some trad routes and a number of bolted sport routes. The quarry consists of granite, mostly solid, but there are still some loose sections.
The spot is appropriate for more experienced climbers, as most of the climbing routes are in the upper grades (20+). In addition, the Main Wall is up to 50 m/164 ft high, offering great panoramic views of the surrounding area. Furthermore, access to the top of the quarry can be made by both sides. Last but not least, the best period for rock climbing is from September to May. Note: it is advisable to wear a helmet.
