Battle ROJal 2018 – Heavy Fog turned Contest into Jib Session
The 1st qparks tour stop Battle ROJal in Snowpark Schöneben was planned to be a huge celebration for the 15 years of QParks as well as for the beginning of the tour plus the amazing work the shape crew did building a sweet contest live. Even though the weather didn’t seem to be in a good mood, everyone was in for the party.
Everything seemed to go as planned. All participants were motivated and stoked for a great shredding day in Snowpark Schöneben, the view was clear and the fog seemed to stay down in the valley. Even Daniel Melnikov, a Russian contestant came down to South Tyrol along with Austrian, Italian and Dutch riders. During training, contestants gave judges a taste of what was about to follow by shredding four kickers and a multi jib.
But halfway through the qualification runs, the fog set in. “The weather changed all day and there was bad sight, so the judges decided that the contest had to be canceled”, Daniel explained.
Even though the weather was not on their side, nobody wanted to leave the snowpark without having a sweet session. So this turned Battle ROJal a Goodies for Tricks session where all riders could earn giveaways from Pinetime, Amplifi and QParks for their tricks. „The weather wasn´t on our side today. But since we want to get something good out of everything, that´s what we did today. We got the best out of the setup, we got the best out of the riders and we got the best out of the cake.” said Judge Andy Lehmann.
That cake was served after the common shred, to celebrate the 15th birthday of QParks the right way.
Even though the first QParks tour stop didn’t go as planned, the community in the park made the most of it and everyone had a great time.
