Big Air´n Style On The Rise Open Airstyle Hangout
Who thinks kiteboarding offers more than freestyle-jumps with handle passes should read on now. Toby Braeuer, for many grandmaster of old-school-kiteboarding and godfather of Airstyle, invites the kiting world to a special sort of training – an Airstyle Hangout with a final contest awarding riders with the best tricks.
The first Airstyle event in Egypt will start on September 22nd and end 29th with an award ceremony and a final party in Ras Sudr, Egypt´s biggest flat water resort. Everyone who likes to get inspired by Toby during the first two days will be encouraged to ride with the best while pushing skills and tricks. In the following three days riders can start collecting points for jumps and tricks in 6 disciplines, judged by a three headed jury including Toby Braeuer.
With the disciplines Boardoff, OneFoot, Transition, Surface, Simple Trick and Hangtime the hosts hope to attract the broadest possible audience of riders and spectators. The event is the first co-production of a group around Toby Braeuer consisting of Germans, Italians and Egyptians, supported by the local kite school “Kitesurfing village” and the team of Flycom events & media. Their aim is to present a new event format to demonstrate what is needed in this sport to get more attraction from media and spectators. „People want to see long jumps, great tricks and big air time”, Braeuer says.
Toby will be assisted by many young egyptian riders like Karim Shawky, one of the most promising kite boarding talents in Egypt. Both are also focusing on coaching Egyptian kitesurfers to compete internationally and to inspire and promote the country´s youngsters. They hope to make a lot of new friends for “their” sport.
In the future the organizers expect increasing demand. “Wherever water and winds meet are kiters. Our sort of beach spectacle will develop great attraction. Big hotels and economically weak regions will support individual event and media packages to grow and advertise.” say Markus and Tobias, the two CEO´s from Flycom event & media agency. Together with Braeuer they are planning several events in the middle east, as well as shows and contests at popular beaches of Germany´s north- and east coast. We might soon hear more of them.
