Horseback Riding in Mammoth Lakes, Yosemite National Park,
California USA
Mammoth Lakes is located near Mammoth Mountain, in California’s eastern Sierra about 100 mi/161 km south of Nevada State Line, 9 mi/14.5 km northwest of Mount Morrison, at an elevation of 7880 ft/2402 m, Mono County, California, USA.
Another wonderful way to view the magnificent vistas of Mammoth Lakes is horseback riding. There are local pack outfitters, that offer many rides with horses, an hour-long, half and full day long and week tours into the Ansel Adams and John Muir wilderness area.
A perfect ride for families is the 2-hour ride to Heart Lake in the Mammoth Lakes Basin, passing a mining camp and a historic gold mine. You can also have guided rides along Red’s Meadow, McGee Canyon, Convict Lake and Rock Creek.
If you want to have a far west experience, you can be a real cowboy on the horse during spring and fall seasons. You don’t need to have any experience; instructors will guide you through with ropes.
