Eindhoven is situated in the south of the Netherlands, in the province of North Brabant at the confluence of the Gender and Dommel streams. It is a city and a municipality, neighboring with many cities and towns as Nuenen, Best, Son en Bruegel, Veldhoven, Oirschot, Geldrop – Mierlo, Eersel and Waalre.
The Hague is situated in the South Holland province where is the capital, lying in the southwest corner of the bigger Randstad conurbation at the west of the country and is the center of the Haaglanden conurbation. The urban area of The Hague, combined with the urban area of Rotterdam, makes it the 206th bigger urban area in the world. The Hague is known as the city where the International Criminal Court, the Dutch parliament, government institutions and the council of state are based. It is not the capital of the Netherlands though. That title belongs to Amsterdam.
Rotterdam is situated in a strategic position at the Rhine – Meuse – Scheldt delta on the northeast and in the middle of a road, air, massive rail and an inland waterway distribution system that extends throughout Europe. This is the reason why Rotterdam is often called as “Gateway to Europe”. It is one of the largest ports of the world and the second largest city in Netherlands. Rotterdam is located in the west of Netherlands, in the province of South Holland and south of the Randstad.
Arnhem is located in the eastern part of Netherlands, on both shores of the river Nederrijn as well as Sint Jansbeek that was the source of the development of the city. It is one of the largest cities in Netherlands and the capital of the Gelderland province. Arnhem is known with various names like Ѐrnem, Arnheim, Hague of the East, Green city on the Rhine or Park city, Meginhardeswich and Oppidium Arnoldi Villa.
Almere is the youngest city in Netherlands. Τhe built of first house was finished in 1976 and the city became a municipality in 1984. It is a well structured city in the province of Flevoland, bordering with Zeewolde and Lelystad. Almere municipality comprises the districts of Almere Haven, Almere Poort, Almere Stad, Almere Pampus and Almere Hout. It is the largest city in Flevoland and the 7th biggest in the Netherlands.
Amersfoort is the second largest city and a municipality of the province of Utrecht, located in the central Netherlands. The city is well preserved and is a protective medieval center although it grows rather quickly. It is a very old city that celebrated its 750th birthday anniversary in 2009.
