The spot enjoys a Mediterranean climate with warm dry summers and cool wet winters.

Hermanus in Walker Bay in the Overberg region offers an absolutely amazing kayaking experience. You get to paddle a few meters from the largest animals of all, the Southern Right Whales, giving you an awe-inspiring connection to nature!!

Paddle across shimmering waters as you enjoy spectacular mountain views, sea cliffs and marine life. Difficulty level here is graded easy and the paddling area is a 5 km/3.1 mi long, lasting two whole hours.

Since the paddling is done on a Marine Reserve, it is prohibited by law to get closer than 300 m/984 ft close to these gigantic mammals. That said, ii implies that even if the animal comes close to you, you need to paddle away.

Kayaking is also weather dependent and in case of strong and big swell conditions, it is not possible to perform kayaking. No experience is needed to attempt this amazing adventure.
