Kona International Airport is located at fifteen minutes in the south of the main town. Along the sea side, there are shops and schools to buy or rent diving gear as well as take lessons if you are a beginner.
However, Pipe Dreams spot is not recommended for beginners. It is a very interesting spot for scuba diving with an average depth of 65.5 ft/20 m and maximum depth 230 ft/91 m. It has low sea current and good visibility.
The bio-diversity of the bottom is exciting because other than the lobsters, coral reefs and the colored tropical fish, there are large steel pipes, 5 ft/1.5 m wide, going down 1000 ft/304 m that can be entered.
