Clovelly is a beach-side suburb of Sydney, at about 8 km/4 mi in the south-east of Sydney's CBD (Central Business District).
Clovelly beach is located in between Bronte beach to the north and Gordon’s bay to the south. Wedding Cake Island or Lemo’s Island is at about 1km off the Coogee beach and it is a rock platform which protects the beach from most swells. If you are a scuba diving enthusiast, then you should visit this place.
The spot is appropriate for all levels of divers. The depth of the dive site varies from 5 m/16.4 ft to 22 m/72.1 ft and visibility rate is pretty good. Water temperature is up to 21°C / 69.8°F in summer and early autumn months and between 14-18°C / 57.2-64.4°F in winter.
Divers will have the opportunity to witness an amazing marine life, including old wife, bream, snapper, blue groper, combfish, kingfish, six-spined leatherjacket and plenty of schooling fish. Admire the collection of sea squirts, sponges, overhangs and corals around the island.
Note: book a boat dive in one of the many scuba schools located in Sydney’s region.
